Solutions for a Range of Surgical Procedures

SpineSTUD™ models can replicate the anatomy, biomechanical performance, and surgical approach for any spinal deformity correction procedure.

Basic surgical skills such as open or MIS lumbar decompressions and fusions can be practiced on models with normal anatomy or advancing levels of degeneration and deformity. Realistic thecal sac and nerve roots can be damaged during a procedure, requiring dural repair. Disc spaces include an annulus and nucleus pulposus for realistic discectomies, TLIFs, and PLIFs.

Lateral approach models provide a realistic training experience for lateral thoracic and lumbar interbody fusions or corpectomies. These models include a body wall, retroperitoneal fat, psoas muscles, diaphragm, and lungs.

SpineSTUD™ training models provide a great platform for practicing cervical deformity corrections, occipitocervical fusions, atlantoaxial fixation techniques, subaxial pedicle screw placement, and numerous other cervical procedures. Pressurized vertebral arteries and thecal sac can be added to any model for a more realistic training experience.

“The model of scoliosis has been extremely helpful for teaching students, residents, company personnel, parents, etc… and the 3-D morphology of the true deformity of the spine and trunk including ribs. They can really better then understand surgical strategies for correction.”
Randal Betz, MD Institute for Spine and Scoliosis / Past President, Scoliosis Research Society / Former Chair, Spinal Deformity Education Group
“The days of bending the orange wire to create scoliosis, and using rubber bands to mimic rotation are over. The 3D custom spine from spine stud™ is extremely helpful for training new fellows and residents. It is great for practicing the free hand pedicle technique, (especially on the concave pedicles), Ponte osteotmies and derotation. It is a hassle to plan a day at the lab that everyone can meet to train on a cadaver, and you still don’t have the deformity aspect on the cadaver. Now I can bring the deformed spine to them, on their time. The 3D spine from SpineStud™ has been an added value to my sales portfolio and I look forward to introducing it to future fellows and residents.”
Randal Betz Jr. DepuySynthes spine consultant
“The Spine STUD™ is an excellent platform to learn spinal instrumentation and reduction techniques. It provides a realistic representation of spinal anatomy and three dimensional deformity without the cost and logistical challenges of learning with cadaveric specimens.”
Joe Petfield Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery fellow
“The model was by far the most realistic one I’ve used. The feel of the “bone” for every step of the instrumentation process was remarkable. The set up of the model within simulated soft tissues and ribs allows for an excellent surgical practice environment. I would highly recommend it for any trainee at any level.”
Arun R. Hariharan, MD, MS Clinical Fellow / A.I. duPont Hospital for Children
“I will use you for all non-cadaveric labs moving forward. The model worked flawlessly.”
